Outfit of the Night (Birthday Weekend Edition)

This past weekend was my birthday; yay! I turned 23 on January 11th and I brought in my birthday by going out to a lounge in the city on Thursday with my best friends and on my actually birthday I went out to eat with my boyfriend. We went to Carmine’s in the city and it was very good. I’ll definitely go back there again with a few of my friends. On Saturday, I went out to Red Lobster’s with my friend and then at night another friend of mine had a little get together at her house for me. It was a very eventful weekend and I’m very grateful I got to spend it with the people I love.

But enough of all that! Instead of boring you guys with what transpired during my birthday weekend; I’ll get on with what you guys been waiting for-the clothes! This isn’t a big outfit of the night haul. It’s just the outfits I wore for my birthday and what I wore at the lounge the night before. Some of these pics are a little blurry so I apologize in advance.

Every year close to my birthday, I always plan ahead the outfits I want to wear. Last year, I wanted to wear a long sleeve black dress and this year I decided to wear the same type of dress but a white one. I have a fascination with long sleeve dresses.  Since its cold in NY, I feel more comfortable wearing a dress with sleeves than a dress without one.

Anyway, I loved this dress when I first saw it online and I got it on sale for about $25, which made me love it even more. I liked the fact that the dress had mesh panels on the shoulders and the back. I was originally going to pair the dress with these red glitter shoes from Charlotte Russe, however, I didn’t like how it looked with the tights so I opted for a basic pair of black shoes.

Since it was birthday, I wanted to glam up my look with my makeup and accessories. I decided to do a gold smokey eye using a beautiful gold eye shadow from Sugarpill cosmetics and my Urban Decay Naked palette. For the finishing touch, I added red lipstick to pull everything together and voila!

For my actual birthday, I decided to go for a different look than I normally do. I wanted to wear a blazer, but, not a plain one. While surfing through Urban Outfitters, I found a leopard print blazer which was perfect for the look I was going for and it was on sale! It’s sold out online but here’s an alternative. The leather trend is still going strong, so I bought a leather skirt from Forever 21 along with this white long sleeve button up shirt that comes with a black piece of fabric that goes around the neck that you can tie into a bow. I paired this outfit with my favorite pair of black tights from Uniqlo and studded booties from Charlotte Russe. For my makeup, I did a simple cat-eye and a dark red lip.
