NYFW Fall 2014 Recap: Nudes, Metallics & Furs Galore at the Son Jung Wan Show

All photos were taken by me.

Models wearing gold metallic lips were walking down the runway dressed in nude, metallic and fur pieces in Son Jung Wan’s Fall/Winter 2014 show. I was impressed by the designer’s Spring 2014 show and I couldn’t wait to see what she will create for the fall and winter.

Last season, Son Jung Wan was inspired by Morocco and the romantic, picturesque sun-drenched Sahara Desert. For this season, the South Korean designer was inspired by the works of expressionist Mark Rothko. It wasn’t just gold, metallics, and furs that was flying down the runway in the Pavilion at Lincoln Center; she also used shades of sapphire, ivory, and sequins.

A few of my favorite pieces from the collection was the multicolored fox fur coat with a brown silk dress and a technicolored sequin dress with a cut-out down the chest.  I’m not big fan of fur, but the outfit was just gorgeous together. Another favorite of mine was Along with the amazing clothes, I loved the makeup the female models were wearing. Makeup artist Miyako Okamoto for Shiseido chose neutral eyes and glowing skin to offset the bold gold lips they were wearing. While to pull the whole look together, Laurent D. from the Prive Hair Salon chose to pulled the models hair back into a sleek, tight bun.

The venue was shown at the new Pavilion area of Lincoln Center. I enjoyed the new space, because its not a typical, straight runway. Instead of models walking back and forth, models walk down rows of audience members before going backstage. The space is different than all of the other venues at Lincoln Center, however it was very hard to get a good shot, because everyone is sitting on the same level. There is no elevated space, which made it harder for me to get some good pictures. I apologize in advance for some of the blurry pics.

Here’s some pictures from the show:
