NYFW Fall 2014 Recap: Mara Hoffman Brings North Africa to New York

All photos were taken by me.

After seeing Mara Hoffman’s spring collection last season, I couldn’t wait to see what she had in store for her Fall/Winter collection. Of course, Hoffman served this season. Inspired by the art, landscapes, textiles and jewelry of Northern Africa, Hoffman didn’t stray away from her Bohemian aesthetic. Last season, her collection looked liked a “gang of rainbow warriors”, while this season was a little more toned down with her color selections; opting to use more black than more vibrant colors. However, she still added pops of colors into her collection and she used sequins!

Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. My favorite look was a black maxi dress with a deep V (shown above). When I saw the model come out and walk the runway, I instantly turned to my blogger pal Heather of Fashionista NY Girl  (who I met last season at Mara Hoffman) and told her I would definitely wear it in the freezing cold. It is a very beautiful dress. She agreed with me. I didn’t think I would see maxi dresses and sheer designs from Hoffman this season, because I would see these type of looks from the spring season, however, no matter what season it is Hoffman will stay true to her boho roots. I also enjoyed her camel cardigan and sweater. I would wear everything from this collection and it makes me want to continue this journey with her.
