NYFW Fall 2014 Recap: Noon by Noor

All photos were taken by me.

This past fashion week was my first time attending a Noon by Noor show. I tried last season to see the dynamic duo behind the brand (Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa), however I didn’t get an invite. Thank goodness, I did this season. Thank you People’s Rev! I was always a fan of Noon by Noor’s clothing and was very excited to be finally seeing them in person. They always utilize such beautiful prints and color for there garments and this season wasn’t any different.

The inspiration behind this season’s collection was nature. To be more exact, “the beautiful colors and unique markings in minerals and crystals inspired the designers to look at patterns found in the natural environment.” The color palette they used was a mixture of icy blues, cool mints, mauves, navy, burgundy and vanilla with pops of yellow, chartreuse and royal purple. I loved their choice of colors this season especially with their outerwear; which proves that it is time to ditch coats in boring shades of black and gray and wear a pop of color to brighten up those winter days.

Probably my favorite out of the whole collection was the mauve felt and beige faux fur over sized coat (below). What the model was wearing underneath was nice as well, but I need that coat in my life. I love how it used two different textures and colors and it worked marvelously together to make a fantastic coat. I really love an over-sized coat. I definitely need one in my closet, ASAP. Other than their amazing coats, the duo showcased many evening wear looks as well. My favorite out of those looks was the burgundy embellished culotte jumpsuit (second below) and the cream cascading embellishment gown (third below). Those pieces were gorgeous and plus I’m a sucker for burgundy. I enjoyed the juxtaposition between their daytime and evening looks, masculine and feminine styles and many more. I was overly pleased with attending and I can’t wait to see more from these two.

What are some of your favorites from this collection?
