NYFW Spring 2015: CZAR by Cesar Galindo

All photos taken by me.

Cesar Galindo’s collection is one that I look forward to seeing every season. He’s a designer that always does something different with each of his collections. As soon as I walked into The Hub (which I am still not a fan of), I was greeted with a burst of color. The first model I saw when I walked in was wearing a printed green deep V dress, which reminded me of Jennifer Lopez’s infamous Versace dress. As soon as I saw that, I knew that I would enjoy this collection.

Galindo’s collection for Spring 2015 was filled with different silhouettes and colors from vibrant hues of yellow and green to pastels and metallic fabrics. There was different textures and patterns that he used for some of his clothes and I wondered if he hand-stitched some of the beading himself. What I loved the most about this collection was his use of different patterns and textures to help tell his story for 2015. One of my favorite pieces was a colorful beaded floral jumpsuit that almost looked like a piece of art. I love how he used the orange, red, purple and blues to create this pattern. I’ve learned from watching Project Runway that color choices are important when making garments and Galindo was very smart about the colors he chose.

I really enjoyed the styling and the makeup the models wore. For makeup all the models wore electric blue eyes and pink lips. The makeup didn’t overpower the whole look each model had. It complemented the looks. All the models had their hair pulled back, braided and at the end of the braid was gold wiring. It reminded me of Greek goddesses. Also, there was lots of fashion illustrators all around the models sketching the collection and that was really cool.
Last season, I hated the lighting that was used for his collection and I must say that this season it was perfect. I can’t wait to see what he’ll do for the fall.
What do you think of the collection?
