Fall Beauty Trend Report 2014

Fashion week (or month) predicts the trends that will be “in style” for the next season; however designers also put into consideration what beauty trends will be hot or not also. Some beauty trends that grace the runway may not be the most wearable for some ladies, but this season’s trends are looks that everyone can wear. Check them out down below.

No “Makeup” Makeup:

Natural, flawless makeup is in this fall. No more caking on the foundation or overdoing your bronzer or blush. Instead of using a foundation, try a tinted moisturizer like this one from NARS or use a concealer like this one from MAC to cover up blemishes and set with a light powder. If you want to contour then lightly carve out those cheekbones and depending on your skin tone use a natural shade of blush or a deep plum. Try to be light handed because you want to appear like you have on no makeup at all.

Graphic Eyeliner:

I love my cat-eye. Every time I do my makeup, I have to do it or I feel as though my look is incomplete. I am not an expert on eyeliner because it still takes me awhile and they are not as even as I would like them to be. Haha. I am loving the fact that the simple cat eye is now being upgraded. You can do a simple look like pictured above or something very dramatic. Since these look are wearable, you can do a very long and thick wing to get the same effect if you are not comfortable with doing something very dramatic or different. Remember that you want the eyes to be the focus, so the rest of your makeup should be toned down. It shouldn’t be overpowering the eyes. It’s a balance. To achieve this look it’s best to use a liquid eyeliner with a stiff pointed tip. Gel eyeliner can work too but it’s a bit harder to work with with, at least in my opinion. My suggestion is the Kat von D Tattoo Liner to get those look at me eyes.

Plum Lips:

Deep, vampy shades are one of my favorite makeup trends for the fall (all year round actually). Dark lipstick looks good on every skin color, tone and person. However shades of plum are trendy this season. If you’re going with a strong lip, make sure your eyes are neutral or bare so that there isn’t a lot going on with your makeup. Try Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Black Raspberry  or Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame.

Glowing Skin:

Illuminated, glowing skin is normally reserved for the summer months, but not any more. Skin for the fall/winter months won’t be dry or flat anymore. To achieve a sun-kissed glow, apply highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and a little bit on your cupid’s bow, forehead and bridge of your nose. The Mineralize Skinfinish line from MAC will get the job done or mix some of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in with your foundation or tinted moisturizer for a “glowing from within” look.

Pop of Color On the Eyes:

Colorful eyelids are not just for the summertime anymore. You can wear pops of color on the lids throughout the fall as well. Remember that when wearing bright colors on the eyes, make sure that the rest of your makeup look is toned down so that the eyes are the center of attention. My recommendation for a bright lid is using the Urban Decay Electric Palette. It has ten bright shades that will bring all the attention to those lids. If having lots of color on the lid is too much then you can opt for a colored liner, such as this one from Bobbi Brown to line your lash line and add that pop of color.

I want to clarify that I am not a makeup artist or specialize in that field. I wanted to share with you guys these trends and suggest how you can achieve the same look. Which trend will you be rocking this fall? I’m going to definitely try the graphic eyeliner look this fall.

Happy Monday!
