NYFW Fall 2015:Jay Godfrey

For my first day at Lincoln Center, I was invited to attend the Jay Godfrey presentation and I was very excited. Don’t crucify me guys but prior to last season, I have never heard of Jay Godfrey nor seen any of his designs. However after seeing his collection for the Fall/Winter, I am definitely intrigued to see more designs from him.

Upon entering the space, I saw this beautiful plaid, suede, sheer mesh top with gray wide leg trousers and I knew that I was going to enjoy this collection. All of the pieces Godfrey created this season were tailored to perfection! I love his use of different materials to create distinct looks for everyday women. I loved all of his plaid pieces and I’m not a big fan of plaid, but nonetheless I liked how he added sequins and suede detailing to add an extra oomph to the pattern.

To offset the grays and the blacks in the collection, Godfrey added some pink and marsala (the pantone color of the year)to some of his outfits. One of my favorite looks from the collection was the pink flared leg trousers and matching tie neck blouse. I need that in my closet ASAP. Another one of my favorites is the plunging necklace black jumpsuits. I wish I had smaller boobs to wear that outfit! It was the show stopper out if the whole collection. Additionally, I liked that he added a marsala/black belt to add more drama to the look.

Another favorite!

Although I really enjoyed the collection, there were some misses as well. Some of his formal dresses were a little boring (except he floral dress) to me. I’m a little tired of seeing mesh dresses. It’s one of the trends that I kind of wish some designers would move on from. But all in all, I did enjoy his collection. The clothes were gorgeous and I loved the makeup the models were wearing. They had luminous skin paired with an intense brown cat eye and slick backed ponytails.

Which look was your favorite?

Also, I want to say I’m sorry for the hiatus guys! I know I said in my last post (which you can read here) that I will post more and then I disappeared again. Apologies. However I am going to try to blog a lot more consistently. I’m still trying to figure out how to juggle a full time job, blogging and having some relaxation time. I felt like I had to give that disclaimer because I should explain to you guys where I’ve been or why I haven’t been blogging a lot.
