Hey guys! I hope y’all Easter weekend was great. Today I am going to talk to you about some of the beauty products that I have been using non-stop for the whole month of March. Usually favorites posts normally go up before the new month, but it’s still the first week of April (kind of) so I’m still good. Haha. Also included in this roundup will be some clothing pieces that I’ve been re-wearing (I am an outfit repeater and I can admit it) and songs that I cannot stop listening to.
I’ve been using these pads for about awhile now and I just recently bought a new pack in February because I can never go a day without them! These facial pads keep my skin very bright, glowing and clean. I use them after I wash my face with a cleanser and whatever dirt my cleanser did not get; I would use this to get the remaining grim off my face. These also exfoliate and tone the skin as well but the exfoliation is very mild. They are gentle on the skin and I love using these when I’m not wearing makeup since it leaves my face looking fresh.
After I use my radiance pads I have to moisturize my face because my face becomes very dry, which is due to the facial pads toning the skin. When I went to Sephora I was recommended the Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation cream-which I love but was very pricey for 3 oz($65!!!). So I decided to buy the First Aid Beauty version of it and I am very, very happy with my purchase. This cream is for people with very dry skin in the winter (or in general). I don’t fall into that category necessarily but I never realized how dry my skin gets when I don’t moisturize. Although it’s an “intense” cream, it’s very light on the face and quick absorbing, which is key for me when I’m applying makeup. I hate when I have to wait awhile for my moisturizer to absorb into my skin (#foreverimpatient). And it leaves my skin feeling smooth all day! Another plus is that you get 6 oz for more than half the price of the sheer transformation crea. I’m pretty sure I won’t have to replenish my stash until winter or next January.
I am not big on drugstore foundation. I dislike the fact that I have to guess what shade I am without testing it on my skin. With that said this foundation might be my holy-grail drugstore find. I love love love this foundation for everyday wear. Before I was using my MakeUp Forever HD as my go-to foundation and I barely wear it now. Even on nights when I go out, I rather wear this. It leaves my skin feeling matte and fills in most of my pores. I’m pretty okay with some of my pores showing because I have big ones and nothing I use can fully make them appear invisible. So I’m alright if my pores are visible. I have tried the original Fit Me! formula and I hated it. It was so bad! But I am happy that Maybelline stepped their game up with this foundation. I use a mixture of shades 355 Coconut and 330 Toffee because 355 (the one I bought originally was too red for my complexion). I will say that the foundation doesn’t last very long, I would say its great for about 8-10 hours before it starts to look bad; but that’s fine because it’s not made to be a long wearing foundation. And I wish Maybelline and other drugstore brands (with the exception of Black Opal, Covergirl Queen Collection, IMAN) have a larger selection of women of color friendly shades because I shouldn’t have to buy two foundation to match me perfectly and WOC aren’t just “two shades”, we come in many different shades. Sorry I had to go on my soapbox for a little bit, moving on…
Another drugstore foundation that I’ve been loving in last month and its because it really has great coverage and its long-wearing foundation. This foundation is medium to full coverage which is perfect for nights out and lasts for up to 24 hours. I’ve never worn it for that long, but I have worn it for about 12 hours and my makeup would still look great. Of course I still have to touch up my T-zone area from time to time, but other than that it’s still a great foundation. I love wearing this foundation when I have work and then I have to go out somewhere right after. I don’t have to worry about touching up my whole face. It is a bit more pricey than the Fit Me! but to me it’s worth it. It’s a nice alternative to the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo foundation and it doesn’t feel heavy on me skin nor does it look cakey. Again, I bought a shade that’s way too red for my complexion (we need more WOC shades L’oreal!). I bought Cocoa 112 and I might buy the Soft Sable 111 to mix it with, but the Cocoa shade will be perfect for when I get darker in the summertime. Also this foundation oxides very well into my skin so throughout the day it doesn’t look as dark, which is a plus.
I bought this palette during Black Friday and that’s because the palette was half off! I couldn’t pass this up especially since I didn’t have to pay full price. This was my first Too Faced purchase product and I can see what all the hype has been about. The palette seems like chocolate, which I love. Every time I open it, I have to sniff the cocoa (insert O.T. Genasis “Coco” song), haha. No, but seriously it smells divine and the the shades are pigmented and very blendable. I own’t lie when I first got the palette I did not see the hype but I started playing around with it and its my go to neutral eye palette. The past few weeks I’ve been wearing a lot of neutral eye looks to work and it’s because of this palette.
This liner is the most talked about new liner on the market and its for a reason. The Tarteist liner is the darkest liner that I’ve ever used and seen. I’m not a big gel liner person because I hate using a brush but this liner changed all that for me. I love the packaging of the tube and how the tip fans out to a flat blending stage (like an artist’s palette) where you can squeeze out as little (or as much) product you need to do your liner. It does come with an angled brush, which does make creating a wing a little easier for me but I don’t think the brush will last long with continued use. It’s better to use a Sigma E10 brush or any other eyeliner brush you feel comfortable with. I used to use the Kat Von D Tattoo liner but I barely touch it now since purchasing this. Sadly it is sold out on Tarte’s website and online at Sephora but I managed to buy mines at a store in Soho. So there’s hope that it might still be out there!
This is the $3 I’ve spent on a brand. I’m not a big E.L.F fan because I normally like quality over quantity but I have a few brushes and this product that’s having me change the way I look at E.L.F. I bought this blush and bronzing powder in the shade Turks & Caicos. All the shades are name after islands in the Caribbean (how cute is that?). I chose this shade because I was looking for a bronzer that I can use in the Summer that will add an extra glow to my skin and it does! Plus the highlighter is a beautiful pinky highlight that adds an extra oomph to my cheeks. Ya’ll have to check it out and for $3 you have nothing to lose.
I originally bought this product a few days before March ended but I had to sneak this in here because its that damn good. I normally get gel manicures when I go to the nail salon, but it is not good to constantly stick your hand under UV light. Once I saw dangers of it, I decided to go a different route and that’s when I came across this product. When I went to the nail salon I used this and my nails still look great. It’s a gel manicure in the bottle and you don’t need the light and you save some money in your pocket. You do have to buy the Sally Hansen gel top coat as well or it won’t work as effectively. There are also 29 beautiful colors to choose from. I am definitely going to stock up on these babies! The color is Sugar Fix.
I’ve heard so much from YouTubers and beauty bloggers about the Audacious line from Nars that I wanted to give it try, but the $32 always kept me at bay. However when I walked into Sephora, I decided to say “F@!k it” and bought one. It was so hard to choose a shade, but decided to buy the shade Michiyo which is the most gorgeous bright hot pink lipstick. I love hot pink lipsticks (and pinks) even though I do own a lot of them. It really compliments my skintone and the formula is very moisturizing. I don’t want to say too much about them because I do plan on buying at least two more and writing a review on them. But know that I give this lipstick two thumbs way up! I posted a picture on Instagram of me wearing the lipstick here.
I got these as gift for Christmas last year (thank you Heather and Gwen) and since its finally warm out, I have been wearing these bad boys! I am very happy Heather did not listen to me and got me white converses because these are so much better. The silver metallic matches everything I own and the zipper detailing just makes the shoes. Even though I’m wearing very casual clothing, when I put these on it pulls together my outfit. These are very unique sneakers and I’ve been catching people staring at my feet when I walk by because of it. I can’t wait to style these and share them with you guys on here.
There’s not much to say about this shoe especially since I worn it back to back in my last three OOTD posts (here, here, and here). That’s how much I love this shoes. It adds to an outfit especially a very casual one. You can dress these shoes up and dress it down. Plus the zipper and the leather adds a bit of edge to the shoe and I love that. These are my go-to shoes for the Spring and Fall. Mines is a little scuffed up right now, but I’m hoping I can get that cleaned.
I’m very late to the party with this song. But I heard the song when I was watching Glee and I had to hear the original version. Once I heard it, I couldn’t stop playing it! It’s such a happy song, Jess Glynne is sanging on this track and this song is the quintessential song for the Summer (to me at least). I’m not going to get tired of this song anytime soon.
There you guys have it! These were all of my favorite things for the month of March. I normally don’t do a lot of favorites posts because it comes across a little better in videos but I do like sharing some of the products that I’ve been obsessing over. I might continue to do this every month. Let me know in the comments below if you guys are interested in more of these kinds of posts. Also let me know what were your favorites for this month. It could be anything from books, foods, etc. I’m always interested in trying some new things.
