Daaammmn, Simone! Yes, yes, I know what you’re thinking and I won’t apologize for it. I did warn you guys in my Off the Shoulder post that I will probably rock this trend until the wheels fall off #sorrynotsorry. It’s one of my favorite trends for the season and I can transition it into the Fall and again in the Spring, which is great! I hate buying “trendy” pieces and can only utilize it for only a specific season (shoes don’t count).
Side note: I know I have been MIA on Instagram and FRTW. When I came back from hiatus, I promised myself and you guys that I will be consistent no matter what is going on in my life. Last week, I had a very long and rough week at work. For those of you who may not know, I have a job and it isn’t a 9-5; I work in the unpredictable field of retail. For all my retail peers who are reading this, you know the struggle. I’m not going to get into too much details, but just know that on my days off, I wanted to just lay in my bed, sleep, read…basically do things that didn’t require too much brain power. And while I enjoyed a little R&R, I wasn’t as productive as I should be. Unfortunately to be successful in this industry or anywhere, there are no such things as days off. But I’ll save that speech for another day. I wanted to apologize and give you guys a little insight on what happens behind the scene.
Back to our regularly scheduled program…
When I saw this dress online at H&M, I knew immediately that I wanted to have it in my closet, because it’s off the shoulder (duh!) and the color is gorgeous. I love olive, rust oranges, mustards and burgundy on my skin tone. I think they compliment my skin tone nicely. Since I was wearing an earth tone, I wanted to pair it with lots of gold accents- even down to my hair jewelry.
I would say that I wished I wore different shoes with this dress. Looking at some of the photos, I should have paired the dress with a pair of wedges or a better sandal, as oppose to the ones I’m wearing. It was way too flat for my liking and it didn’t go with the outfit as I would have liked. Listen, sometimes even fashion bloggers make mistakes when developing an outfit. Other than that, this outfit is very easygoing and relaxed, which was the look I was going for. Originally I was going to change my lip color to a dark, vampy red, but this dusty mauve from Lena Lashes was perfect!
Dress: H&M (on MAJOR sale) / Shoes: Old Navy (old) / Bag: Brooklyn Industries/ Sunnies: Quay Australia (sold out, but will be back in stock in September)/ Choker: Forever 21 (similar) / Lippie: James by Lena Lashes
