Beauty Haul: Ulta, Sephora & More!

Happy Monday, loves!! Today, I will be sharing with y’all some of the items that I have picked up from Sephora, Ulta and more. I love buying new makeup! Once I purchase something, I can’t wait to use them the next day. Lately, I haven’t been painting my face as much as use too because I’m always tired but that will soon change. Anyway, let’s get into what I bought!

I’m going to be separating what I purchased by stores so that’s its easier. Also, this post is going to be a long one so get a snack :).

I went to Ulta because I was in dire need of a summer foundation since I got a bit of a tan and my usual MUFE Mat Velvet in shade #57 did not match my neck and chest anymore. I wanted to pick up a drugstore foundation and since Ulta always have a BOGO on drugstore products, as well as their “3.50 off of a purchase of $10 and more” coupon; I decided to troop it to Queens (I live in Brooklyn so going to Rego Park is a bit far for me).

Once there instead of keeping my eyes on the prize and picking up one or two items, I left the store with much, much more.

I purchased the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless in the shade #360 Mocha which is the darkest shade. I still haven’t tried it out yet, but I hope it matches. Kudos to Maybelline for expanding their shade range to include more WOC friendly shades. When it first came out I bought the shade #355 Coconut which was a bit too red for me (I have an neutral undertone), but I loved the foundation so much that I made it work. Once I found out about the new shades being included in the line, I was on the hunt for it in my neighborhood (no pharmacy or Target by me had them 🙁 )so I kind of gave up because I didn’t feel like going to Queens. But when I went to Ulta, I had to pick it up. I still haven’t tried it on my face to see if it’s a perfect match. Unfortunately since it’s a drugstore item, I couldn’t open it and test the shade for me. Hopefully it matches, if not then I have no choice but to trek back to Queens again.

Since there was a “Buy One, Get One 50% Off” promo on all Maybelline products, I HAD to get something else. These are the types of deals you don’t sleep on. I decided to get the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel liner in Blackest Black, since I’ve heard so many great things about it and I was in need of a new gel liner. Personally, I like to do a wing liner with gel over liquid because I have more control over the product.

Because I got a gel liner, I decided to try out the Real Techniques Silicone Eyeliner Brush. I have a bent liner brush from Japonesque that is okay. It’s not bad but I know I can find a better alternative. I haven’t tried it yet, but the point is very fine which I like for the days that I don’t want a thick wing and I can do more detailed work with.

I had to re-up on some cotton pads for my face so I decided to pick up some Ulta Premium Round Cotton Pads. These I have used and they are very soft and the cotton doesn’t stick to my face like some of the cheap ones do.

Lastly, I picked up some new lashes. I was never really a lash kind of girl because it looked very difficult to put on. With that said, falsies really do elevate eye looks. There have been times that I’ve taken pictures of my makeup looks and felt that if I had on lashes, the eye makeup would look even better! I decided to learn how to master putting on falsies like some of the beauty vloggers out there. I’m still learning what method works for me but I’m having tons of fun learning. Instead of wasting money buying expensive lash brands to use as my “training wheels”, I decided to buy some from the drugstore. I bought the Ardell Studio Effects Demi Wispies because they look natural and not too dramatic. It’s still taking me some time to get used to seeing myself with falsies on, but I do like how I look with them. These aren’t my first pair of lashes, I bought a pair of Glamour ones (I forgot the number) from Ardell that I loved but I had to let them go because I used them wayyyy too much.

When I went to Ulta I thought they carried Beauty Blenders there as well. Sadly, they do not. I’m know I’m not the only one that made that mistake. Since I was meeting a friend in the city that day, I went to the Sephora near Union Square.

Now this trip was an in and out excursion. Even my friend was surprised by how quick I was (I can be in a Sephora for over an hour) and that I only bought two items (I usually buy more). I bought a Beauty Blender obviously because I had ripped the tip off by accident when I had my claws on (acrylic nails). There was setting powder on my BB and when I went to take the product off I ripped the tip with my nails. I had to get another one. I couldn’t prolong buying one since it’s a staple in my makeup routine.

While I was there I picked up the  Sephora Collection Colorful Shadow and Liner in Dark Brown Matte. One of my favorite YouTubers NikkieTutorials raved about this product in her “June Hits and Oh God No’s” that I had to try it out for myself. I have watery eyes, in which makes it hard for me to find products that will actually stay put in my waterline. I’ve swatched it on the back of my hand and when it dried down it did not budge. However, it can perform completely differently when put in the waterline. I’m hoping this product is the answer I’m looking for because I really don’t want to spend almost $25 on an Marc Jacobs eyeliner.

Violet Voss:

At first I wasn’t really interested in the Laura Lee X Violet Voss palette, but after seeing some pics on Instagram and seeing some tutorials with the palette, I caved in and bought it. I wasn’t even subscribed to Laura Lee’s channel (she’s a beauty blogger), but now I am.

Anyway, the palette is gorgeous and if I’m being frank I wished that the infamous Morphe 35 O palette was like the VV palette. The colors in this palette are perfect for summer and fall…hell all year round. I can’t wait to do some looks with it. It is limited edition and this is the last time it will restock so if you like this palette and think you will get continuous use out of it, then I suggest you snag it up ASAP.

Anastasia Beverly Hills:

Out of all the things I bought, I am the most excited about this one. If you’ve been living under a rock, ABH released new glow kits to add to their Glow Kit line. I bought the Sweets glow kit and it is so pretty! I can’t wait to put these highlighters all over my face.

Along with the Sweets glow kit, ABH also released the Moonchild glow kit which has more unique shades that isn’t necessarily for everyday wear. I wasn’t going to get the Moonchild kit, but now I’m going to buy it. I’m happy I didn’t buy any of the other three that were released previously because I was holding out for one that would really catch my eye. Plus I have too many highlighters. Who am I kidding?! You can have never have too many highlighters!

ELF Cosmetics:
The last product from my haul is from E.L.F.. I’ve only owned about two products from them: their bronzer and highlighter duo and their brush set (which is surprisingly good). I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on the brand, but they do have some gems at an inexpensive price point. When I heard that my favorite YouTuber of all time Jackie Aina is releasing an eyeshadow palette with them, I had to support! I’m really trying to cut down on the eyeshadow palettes that I buy. I have a crap ton and usually they get tossed to the side when I buy a new one that I love, but it seems as though when I try to cut down, brands just keep releasing dope shit.

Unfortunately the J. Glow palette is sold out, but I think it’s possible that they might re-release it since many people have been complaining. This palette is so small, I can throw it in my bag and can carry it with me when I travel. The colors in the palette can be used to create different looks that I could only just bring this palette when I travel. And since its E.L.F., it only cost me $6! Giiiirrrlllll….that’s the cheapest I ever bought a palette for so even if it’s not that great, I’m not really losing out that much.

And those were all the things I bought in the last two months. If you made it to the end of the post, you are the real MVP!

I want to know some of the beauty items you’ve picked up in the last few months. I might look into them.

I hope you guys have a great Monday!
