Happy Wednesday, loves! I know I have been a bit MIA these past few weeks and its mainly due to work, however I would have put this post up sooner but over the weekend I found out that the school I wanted to go to for my Master’s program denied my admission. As some of you may or may not know, I am in the process of applying to schools to receive my Master’s degree in Journalism. In the beginning of the year, I’ve applied to three schools: one in California (my number one choice), Boston and Chicago. Of course, the one that I wanted to get into the most did not accept me and I was devastated. I couldn’t bring myself to write or do anything. I did go out with some friends but the disappointment of not getting in was looming in the back of my mind.
After letting myself be miserable for a few days, I decided that this was not what I envisioned but everything happens for a reason. There’s a reason (that’s bigger than me) that I didn’t get into the school in Cali. Maybe I wasn’t ready to move that far. Maybe that school wasn’t the best choice for me. I don’t know! But what I do know is that I had to keep pushing and purusing my dreams even though I had a minor setback. With that said, if you are reading this and are going through a similar situation, remember that it is okay to wallow in your sorrows for a day or two; just don’t drown in them. Still push forward because there will always be setbacks in life. Dust yourself off and try again.
Now on to the outfit….
Although Spring and Summer is quickly approaching, I still seem to gravitate towards earthy tones like mustard yellow and olive. I love how those colors look on me (especially olive) and even though this is more a “Fall” color, I’m pretty sure that this will be my go to for the Spring/Summer season. Since it’s still a bit cold in NY, I am still purchasing sweaters and pullovers (I can’t seem to shop for the season ahead, I always shop for the season I’m presently in) and when I saw this one from F21, I knew I had to add it!
What I like the most about this sweater is the over-sized silhouette and the open back detail, which adds a bit of sexiness to the top. Since it’s over-sized I decided to drop the shoulder on the left side of the sweater to jazz up the look. I have always been into the whole mixing heavy knits with skirts and since I didn’t want t o wear this top with a pair of jeans, I opted for a faux leather skirt that I bought from ASOS. To finish up the look, I wore gold accessories (because gold and olive look beautiful together) and one of my favorite pair of heels and bag from Zara.
What is your go to color for the Spring/Summer season?
